DLC: "Found Your Own Airline" has been released
In about two weeks, the biggest DLC yet for Pixel Airport Tycoon 3D arrives: found your own airline, build a fleet in your colors and fly to 56 cities around the world.
New 🚒 Three new fire stations : the old fire station is replaced by a small, a medium and a large fire station, each with its own model. Small Fire Station : available right away, 1 fire engine, 2 firefighters. Medium Fire Station : 2 fire engines, 4 firefighters.
New 📜 Fuel contracts : the fuel depot window now has its own tab for supply contracts. Keep buying at the daily price and carry the risk yourself – or lock in a deal: 🔒 Fixed price (7, 14 or 30 days): every purchase costs the fixed price.
New 🔭 Observation deck : a gallery with a terrace for your terminal roofs (build menu Passengers). As soon as you select it, a grid on every terminal roof shows where it fits, and an arrow shows which way the binoculars face.
New ⛽ Gas station : a new building in the build menu under Supply, placed along a street. Cars from town now and then pull in when one of the four pumps is free, fill up and then drive on to their destination. Each fill-up earns $25.
Graphics 🌅 New sky : instead of a single colour there is now a real gradient – deep blue above, lighter towards the horizon. In the morning and evening the sky glows around the sun, at night stars come out.
New 💦 Spray on wet runways : in the rain, water splashes up at the wheels on touchdown, and a trail of spray follows the landing gear during rollout and the takeoff run – the wetter the runway, the more spray.
New 🌬️ Real wind (optional): the wind blows from the east or west and turns every 2–3 days. Planes only take off and land into the wind – you need runways in both directions. Makes the game harder. ⚙️ Turn it on when starting a new game or in the options – existing saves too.
Underground Power Grid
New 🇵🇱 Polish : Pixel Airport Tycoon is now available in Polish – all menus, windows, messages, the complete game guide and the controller hints on Steam Deck. Choose it under Options → Language.
New 🧳 Baggage train : baggage handling now uses a tug with four baggage carts instead of the old baggage vehicle, in 2D and 3D. The carts steer through the curves.
Military Cargo: New Cargo Company and Military Transport Aircraft
New 🏙️ Terminal 5 : the largest terminal in the game – a main building with the entrance, a long pier and a satellite (22 × 40 tiles in total). Stands with jet bridges fit along both sides of the pier and around the satellite.
Oversize Cargo: New Cargo Company and Oversize Freighters
New 🌗 Adjustable shadows : Options → Graphics now has a “Shadows” setting with Off, Low and High (3D only). “Low” uses one shadow map instead of two and noticeably lightens the load on weaker computers, “Off” saves the most. Changes apply instantly and without stutter.
Improvement ⚡ No more stuttering while building : Previously, the game redrew the entire map terrain after every building action, which caused a short freeze each time on large airports. Now, only the area that actually changed is redrawn.
New: ⛔ Take runways and terminals out of service : every runway and every terminal – including the cargo terminal – now has an on/off switch, handy for a rebuild, for example.
New Advertising Contracts The “📺 Advertising” button now opens contracts with 7 different brands . You can choose the brand by right-clicking on an advertisement and selecting it under “Content” . The video will then play on the display in both 2D and 3D.
New 📺 LCD displays : a new decoration under "Decoration" for $1,000. You decide what it says – up to 24 characters, e.g. "Terminal 2 West" – and pick one of five glow colors (amber, white, green, blue, red). Long texts automatically wrap onto two lines.
New 📦 New cargo stands : all cargo stands – including the ones you have already built – get a new, sharper look with a lead-in line and stop mark. Cargo aircraft now always taxi in from the front and stop with their nose at the stop mark.
New 🅿️ New parking stands (small, large and jetway): there is now a service lane between the aircraft and the terminal, plus a new look with stand markings. If you place a stand right against the terminal as before, it automatically moves one tile further out.
New 📦 Four loading ramps at the back of the cargo terminal : your own cargo trucks no longer just vanish into the building after a job. They drive past the ramp, back in, unload – and wait there for their next job instead of coming out of the depot every time.
Performance ⚡ The 3D view runs much smoother : the airport now needs about 73% fewer draw calls per frame. Measured on the same airport in the overview: up from 30 to 54 frames per second.
New 🚕 Taxi stand (3×1): Taxis now stop only here instead of at the terminal. Up to three wait at once, their passengers walk to the terminal – each taxi pays $50. 🚇 Tunnel portal with a new 3D model. 🚛 Service vehicles are 10% smaller in 3D.
Fixed: The cargo checklist was missing the step to purchase external trucks and hire drivers. The construction animation was missing for 3 buildings.
Cargo warehouse, external trucks at four ramps, their own drivers and terminal annexes --- 3. SUMMARY --- Your cargo te
The Airport Is Now Surrounded by a Full Landscape Until now, there was only a flat green area stretching to the horizon around the airport. That has now changed.
Seasons at Your Own Pace, Longer Construction Times When starting a new game, you can now choose how long each season lasts: from 1 to 10 in-game days. The default remains 3 days, just like before.
🛬 Jet Bridges Now Dock with Aircraft In the 3D view, jet bridges are no longer static at the stand. As long as no aircraft is present, they remain retracted next to the gate.
🛣️ City connection: now per terminal Planes now only land at terminals that have their own road to the city. Until now a single switch decided this for the whole airport: if any terminal was connected to the city, every terminal was served – if none was, the entire operation
Up Close, Not Just From Above - Update 26
Look out over the apron from the tower cab, follow planes all the way into the clouds, capture your airport in photo mode
Runway Assignments Reworked • Runways with assigned parking stands now serve only those stands · for both landings and takeoffs. Parking stands without an assigned runway will only use runways that also have no assignment.
Rain Effects Rain now leaves visible traces: taxiways, runways, roads, and parking stands become wet and darker, and puddles form on the surface. In 3D, the wet ground now reflects light, especially when the sun comes out afterward, until the surface slowly dries again.
Undo and Improved Building Tools Accidentally demolishing something is no longer a big problem: with Ctrl+Z or the new Undo button, you can reverse your last building action · including a dragged road section or moving an object — and you’ll receive a full refund.
Tunnels now count as a connection to the city A terminal linked to the road network through a tunnel now counts as connected. Until now it wrongly showed the "not connected to the city" warning
Launching from Steam works again. Sorry for the trouble, and thanks to everyone who reported it!
More than one gate per airline Until now every airline could hold exactly one gate and one check-in desk. Assigning the same airline to a second gate freed the first one again – in a large terminal that left most of the signs empty.
Fixed: Gate and check-in counter assignments were resetting again.
All buildings now have a LOD (Level of Detail) model for viewing at a distance. Around 20 buildings were still missing one. This has further improved performance.
Build requirements at a glance Starting out or rebuilding an airport used to mean guessing why a building wasn't doing anything. That changes with this update.
Message History Missed messages can now be read up later. Clicking the bell opens a new History tab next to the filters, listing the most recent messages · newest first, with a timestamp and warnings highlighted. You can filter by category, or show warnings only.
Road Tunnels Roads can now run underground. You'll find the Tunnel portal in the build menu under Ground , right below Street. Place one portal at each end · press R to turn the entrance — then connect them underground with the road tunnel.
Switching a runway during operations Fixed: When a runway was switched to "arrivals only" during operations, aircraft already assigned to it for departure would stop.
Ground handling at large stands Fixed: At large cargo and passenger stands, ground handling could fail entirely. Aircraft waited indefinitely for refuelling, loading and customs even though the progress bar looked complete · but no vehicle was ever dispatched.
Cargo buildings The buildings for cold, live, express and hazmat cargo now hold a maximum of five vehicles. To operate more vehicles, build additional facilities.
Aircraft Pack 1 arrives on 1 September
Aircraft Pack 1 arrives on 1 September: two new aircraft models in the house colours of all six airlines — twelve aircraft for your apron.
Signs can now be rotated.
Decoration Trees and signs can now be demolished and moved with a single click.
Passenger boarding bridges The passenger boarding bridges have been adapted to the redesigned terminal buildings and now dock directly at the terminal again.
New: The large tower can now be upgraded further: the new research "Large Tower +" raises its capacity from 50 to 60 aircraft.
All four terminals have been reworked with sharper textures and better proportions. The terminal extension has been adjusted to match. The new models appear immediately, including on terminals you have already built.
New: Longer runways · 12 tiles for small, 21 for medium and 31 for large (about 30% more). Runways you have already built stay exactly as they are. The new length applies to every runway you build from now on, and to new games.
Fixed: Aircraft now always taxi to the start of the runway, no matter which side they enter from. Previously they took off from the middle of the runway depending on their approach.
ew: The options now include an "Audio" section with separate sliders for music and sound effects.
Fixed: After starting a new game from within a running game, newly built buildings were sometimes not recognized.
Fixed: The Customs Office and the Weather Station were displayed too small after being moved. Changed: During a Night Flight Ban, aircraft now remain at their parking position instead of taxiing to the runway.
